Preserving Legacy through Innovation: The VinUni AI Legacy Book Project as a Model for Ethical, Digital Storytelling in Higher Education (Draft)
Abstract
In the evolving landscape of higher education, institutions face increasing pressure to preserve their identity and values while adopting emerging technologies to engage a digital-native generation. The VinUni AI Legacy Book Project presents a pioneering model that blends artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), and immersive storytelling to preserve institutional memory, promote ethical leadership, and cultivate student engagement. Developed collaboratively by students, faculty, and the VinUniversity Library, the project transforms legacy into a living, learner-centered experience. This paper examines the project's design, technological infrastructure, educational impact, and replicability, positioning it as a benchmark for values-based innovation in library-led digital scholarship. Through a comprehensive analysis of implementation strategies and a comparative evaluation with similar initiatives, this study demonstrates how academic libraries can lead digital transformation while maintaining ethical foundations.
